What Is The Senior Employment Program?

The Senior Community Service Employment Program is operated under a US Department of Labor grant and in cooperation with Indiana Family Social Services Administration, Bureau of Aging and In-Home Services through NWICA.



The mission of this Senior Employment Program is to enable older adults to achieve gainful employment and personal development through community service and training.

The goal is to build the skill and confidence that will lead to regular employment.

What Types of Positions Are Available?

We match your skills and interest by placing you in a paid, on the job training position, such as:
  • Clerical
  • Child care
  • Custodian
  • Maintenance
  • Driver
  • Program Aide
  • Food Service
  • Data Entry
  • Bookkeeping

What Are The Benefits?

You will receive:
  • Paid on-the-job training
  • Employment counseling
  • Assistance with Job Search Skills
  • Encouragement and Support with your job search efforts
  • Up to 500 hours of additional skill-related training if applicable
  • Assistance with job related items if needed

Who Is Eligible?

The Senior Employment Program servers people in Lake and Porter Counties who are:
  • 55 years of age or older;
  • on a limited income;
  • searching for employment; AND
  • willing to learn new skills
