Who we are

The Community Loan Center (CLC) of Northwest Indiana was established in 2022 in order to offer low-interest, low-fee personal loans to employees of enrolled employers as an alternative to high-cost payday and auto title loans.

The CLC of Northwest Indiana is a program of the 501(c)3nonprofit Northwest Indiana Community Action (NWICA). Founded in 1965, NWICA is the largest combined Area Agency on Aging and Community Action Agency in Indiana.

We help to eliminate barriers that make life difficult. We offer a variety of services to support people with low-incomes, veterans, older adults, individuals with disabilities, caregivers, and Medicaid recipients. Our mission is to help people to be independent and to advocate for those who can’t.

The Community Loan Center is seeking grants and investments. The CLC program puts grant money from foundations and corporate donors to work year after year, re-loaning the grant funds up to eight times every 5 years. The CLC program delivers measurable positive out comes, demonstrating how the CLC helps borrowers improve their financial health.
