Northwest Indiana Community Action (NWICA) is thrilled to announce that they have granted 10 local non-profits a total of $974,638. These grants were made available through the American Rescue Plan Act and will be used to support older adult services in Northwest Indiana.
“We are thrilled to be able to provide these grants to such deserving organizations,” said Jennifer Trowbridge, President and CEO of NWICA. “These non-profits are doing incredible work to support older adults in our community, and we are proud to be able to help them continue their important work.”
The 10 non-profits organizations that received funding from NWICA are all dedicated to serving older adults in the region.
Meals on Wheels- $645,818.00
Jasper County Community Services- $72,584.54
Secure Senior Connections- $72,584.54
VNA- $58,418.97
Pulaski County Human Services- $56,672.00
Newton County Community Services- $31,964.99
Portage Township- $11,781.76
PMB- $10,222.00
YWCA- $9,211.12
Strake County Community Services- $7,441.58
These organizations provide a range of services to seniors in the area, including meal delivery, transportation assistance, housing support, and more. With this funding from NWICA, they will be able to expand their services and reach even more seniors in need.
“Jasper County Community Services is excited to be a recipient of a grant that encompasses diversity in various program operation and senior center needs,” said Sharon Colee, Executive Director of Jasper County Community Serices.
The American Rescue Plan Act was signed into law in 2021 with the goal of providing relief to individuals and organizations impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. NWICA is proud to be able to use these funds to support senior services in the region and help ensure that seniors have access to the resources they need to stay healthy in their homes and communities.
